Workplace Injuries FY18

The ABS today released its survey into workplace injuries between July 2017 and June 2018. Construction featured prominently in the results with 21% of respondents from the industry. Roles were also in focus with male respondents reporting work-related injuries or illness for; Technicians & Trades (36%), Labourers (15%) and Machinery operators and drivers (11%).

Age was also a key finding with spikes in both the 20-24 year old group and also 45-59 year olds.

Primary causes of injury/illness included; Lifting, pushing, pulling, bending, hitting or being hit or cut by an object or vehicle and slip/fall.
