Work Starts on Parkville Station
This week work commenced on the new underground train station in Parkville – part of the $11Bn Metro Tunnel Project. The new station is expected to take 5 years to complete and will connect the Metro tunnel to the key education, health and services hub in Parkville including: Melbourne University, The Royal Melbourne Hospital, Royal Womens Hospital and Peter MacCallum Cancer Centre.
The Age notes that there are some concerns from the health sector that construction works and vibrations may negatively impact on sensitive medical technology however project representatives are confident that these issues can be overcome.
