Solar farm to be constructed at Melbourne Water’s Eastern Treatment Plant
A 19 megawatt solar farm is to be constructed at the Eastern Treatment Plant (ETP) in Bangholme. When complete, up to 65% of ETP’s power requirements will come from renewable energy sources.
ETP processes about 40% of Melbourne’s sewage and is considered a world leader in advanced water treatment.
The 19 megawatt solar farm is to be built on land next to ETP and the contract to build it has been awarded to Beon Energy Solutions. This project is an important step in Melbourne Water’s commitment to halve its greenhouse gas emissions by 2025 on its way to reducing them to zero by 2030.
