Short list for Stage One of Melbourne’s Suburban Rail Loop announced
The Victorian Government has announced today that CPB Contractors, John Holland and Laing O’Rourke have been shortlisted to building Stage One of the Suburban Rail Loop.
Works will include construction of 26 km rail tunnels from Cheltenham to Box Hill, together with associated works such as modification of roads, ground improvement, terminus works for trams, relocation and protection of utilities and site preparation. Construction is slated to start in 2022, and initially will create 800 jobs. Over the course of the project, up to 20,000 jobs are estimated to be created.
Requirements of project are the ability to ably demonstrate that they can deliver the required works, as well as other important programs associated, such as the Social Procurement Framework, Major Projects Skills Guarantee and Recycled First Policy.
