Renewables in Victoria
Fairfax media (The Age) is reporting that the Victorian Labor party is pushing its green credentials in the lead up to the State election this month. Wind power generation is set to almost triple with comparable capacity in both ‘under construction’ and ‘planning approved’ compared to existing capacity.
However the biggest shift will be in solar with 366MW under construction compared with 2552MW in planning approved stage. Unsurprisingly, these projects are focused in the sun-blessed North of the state along the length of the Murray. This development pipeline largely segments renewable power generation in the state with the South-West capitalizing on wind, the North on Solar and the East in hydro.
