The NSW Government has announced new guidelines for recycled glass content in asphalt used on infrastructure projects across the state. The current allowance of 2.5% glass content has been raised to 10% in a bid to encourage recycling in the industry. Additionally, constructors Fulton Hogan and John Holland have been awarded grants of up to $250k each to promote recycled content use. Fulton Hogan will upgrade its Eastern Creek asphalt site whilst John Holland is trialing the use of geopolymer concrete containing crushed glass as a replacement for sand.
