Northern & Southern Roads Tenders Terminated
In a move that will be welcomed by some but devastate others, the Victorian State Government has pulled the Northern and Southern Suburban Roads Upgrade Tenders. The tender process was initiated almost 24 months ago with a number of bidding parties working on submissions for the PPP packages. The government has now chosen to change the delivery model to direct engagement, a move that it says will benefit Tiers 2/3/4 contractors and drive local employment and activity. The works are now identified in 12 separate major projects with up to $2.2Bn up for grabs.
Whether you agree or disagree with the claimed benefits of the change in approach, it comes as cold-comfort for those who have invested significant time and money on preparing bids.
