Multiplex links two towers 46 storeys above CBD
Multiplex has completed construction on a 14-metre-long sky bridge, linking the Sapphire By The Gardens and Shangri-La Hotel.
Delivering the bridge, which is 46-storeys above Melbourne’s CBD, took exceptional planning and management, according to Senior Project Coordinator Liam Timms.
“A modular approach was chosen for the sky bridge construction to minimise working at heights,” Timms said.
“Three main steel modules and four corner modules – over 64 tonnes of steel – were firstly installed to form the bridge’s floor. A composite link slab could then be poured between the towers, consisting of 204 tonnes of concrete and over 31 tonnes of reo.
