High Court backs donor laws on Queensland

Construction and developers go hand-in-hand so it is worth noting the decision handed down today by the High Court in relation to political donations in Queensland. The High Court backed the legislation banning developers from making donations to State political parties. It is an offense for a developer to make a donation, a person to make a donation on behalf of a developer or to receive a donation from a developer. 

The laws are similar to those already in effect in NSW and whilst strict caps and rules apply in Victoria donations are not believed to be banned – yet.
