Hansen Yuncken named Managing Contractor for NSW’s flamable cladding removal project
Hansen Yuncken, a leading Australian construction company, has been appointed as Managing Contractor for NSW’s cladding remediation program, Project Remediate.
The three-year program is designed by the NSW Government to deliver safe, compliant and insurable remediation solutions to flammable cladding on identified high-risk, residential apartment buildings across the state.
To support Owners Corporations, Hansen Yuncken will take charge through the entire process, from scheduling, system set-up and building investigation, through to solution design, presentation, council and owner consent, remediation execution and assurance.
Acting across a host of key stakeholders for the project, Hansen Yuncken will be responsible for managing the procurement, coordination and supervision of a range of qualified, reputable industry specialists. This will include a global façade consultant and additional product testing where necessary. Hansen Yuncken will also be in direct contact with building owners to achieve a positive customer experience.
Nick Luzar, NSW State Manager at Hansen Yuncken, said, “We are delighted to be taking on such a pivotal role for Project Remediate, and are committed to delivering real outcomes to the highest standards for the owners and residents of the buildings affected by flammable cladding. Ultimately, we are here to make sure every homeowner involved will be given access to the best solution in a simple and reliable manner.”
“Project Remediate is a significant addition to our strong portfolio of Government projects,” Nick added.
Hansen Yuncken stood out amongst a quality field during the tender process for its safe, timely and customer-centric approach to the program and the ability to devise practical, cost-effective and tailored solutions for each building.
Advanced digital capabilities are another key strength of Hansen Yuncken, which will drive efficiencies in work processes while enabling transparent and timely communications.
“Sophisticated digital systems will allow the team to easily collect, upload and share data to facilitate the workflows. This will keep all stakeholders aware of the latest updates as the program progresses, and ensure that Owners Corporations and strata managers are kept informed at every step of the process”
NSW Building Commissioner, David Chandler OAM, said, “The Managing Contractor will play a critical role in coordinating the delivery of safe and compliant solutions for each building, appointing experienced designers, constructors, superintendents and certifiers. This will be undertaken in consultation with the Office of Project Remediate, the NSW Cladding Taskforce, Fire and Rescue NSW and the Cladding Product Safety Panel.
“Hansen Yuncken have assured us they will bring their A team to this program, and will see it through to the very last building that gets remediated.”
Project Remediate supports eligible Owners Corporations with 10-year interest-free loans, as well as quality assurance and project management services delivered by experienced remediation professionals.
Project Remediate is an opt-in program which invites all eligible strata communities to register their interest online at nsw.gov.au/project-remediate. Registrations close on 30 September 2021.
