Designers chosen for $384M Warrnambool Base Hospital redevelopment
The Victorian Health Building Authority (VHBA) has appointed the design team for the $384.2 million Warrnambool Base Hospital redevelopment.
Billard Leece Partnership architects and AECOM Australia building services engineering consultants will lead the design work for the main campus redevelopment.
The redevelopment will deliver a new multi-storey clinical tower that will include a bigger emergency department, more operating theatres, an additional 22 inpatient beds, dedicated areas for pathology services, medical imaging and dialysis and a 120-space basement carpark for patients and visitors.
The redevelopment also includes the design and construction of a new off-site Regional Logistics Distribution Centre (RLDC) with early designs released in late 2021. The new centre will include a commercial laundry and linen service and state-of-the-art healthcare supplies warehouse that will support more than 50 health providers across Western Victoria.
“The Warrnambool Base Hospital redevelopment is the biggest rural health infrastructure project in Victoria and will create around 800 jobs during construction and provide a boost to the local economy,” VHBA CEO Rob Fiske said.
“We are looking forward to working with the project design team and the local community to shape this significant piece of regional health infrastructure.”
