Covid19 Starts to Disrupt the Supply Chain
As we reported early in February, the coronavirus has started to impact on construction supply chains with everything from structural steel, joinery, facades to finishings and fittings facing delays. The AFR is today reporting that elevator supplier Schindler is now telling some customers that delays for parts could be up to a few months from their suppliers in China. With lifts being an integral structure in modern multi-level buildings this is hardly a ‘nice-to-have’ feature and risks throwing many project timelines into disarray.
The article notes that Schindler is not alone with competitor Kone equally facing some delays.
The question now is even if the virus has peaked and comes under control how long will it take for supply to return to normal?
