Contractors announced for Ballarat Base Hospital $541 redevelopment

The redevelopment consists of a new emergency department, pharmacy, education and training facilities, theatre rooms, a women and children’s precinct and a central energy plant as well as an additional 100 inpatient and short stay beds.  Also included is a new critical care floor, expanded to include operating theatres, procedure rooms, endoscopy suites and consulting rooms and a larger intensive care unit, which will allow for an additional 4,000 surgeries each year.

Lyons are the Principal Architect for Stages 2 (Central Energy Plant) and 3 (the main Tower) and LCI are the Principal Engineers.  It is anticipated that final designs will be released in the early part of 2022, with construction of central energy plant, pharmacy, pathology and education and training facilities is anticipated to begin towards the end of the year.  Construction of Stage 3, the main Tower, is expected to begin in 2024.
