Connect Brisbane wins contract for major cable-stayed footbridge over Brisbane River
Brisbane City Council has awarded the construction contract for the Kangaroo Point Green Bridge (KPGB) to the Connect Brisbane team, led by BESIX Watpac and includes Rizanni de Eccher, WSP, Blight Rayner, Dissing & Weitling, Aspect Studios, RWDI, F-POV, Right Angle Studios and Rowland.
The team will now begin five months of detailed design work and stakeholder consultation before construction activity gets under way at the end of this year.
The Kangaroo Point Green Bridge will link Kangaroo Point to the CBD, making it easier to walk or cycle between Kangaroo Point, the eastern suburbs and the CBD.
The 460m-long single-mast cable-stayed structure will carry dedicated cycle and pedestrian paths and will include places for people to pause and take in the river and city views. It will also incorporate a bar and restaurant.
