Coalition promises $300m in park-and-ride spaces

The government is under fire today after announcing $300m to upgrade parking in at 30 train stations around Melbourne. The state opposition has attacked the plan claiming that it is a political stunt.
The stations named include; Ferntree Gully, Boronia, Heathmont, Ringwood, Heatherdale, Mitcham, Croydon, Surrey Hills, Canterbury, Glenferrie, Camberwell, Frankston, Kananook, Seaford, Bentleigh, Sandringham, Hampton, Brighton Beach, North Brighton, Elsternwick, Balaclava, Pakenham, Beaconsfield, Berwick, Narre Warren, Craigieburn, South Morang and Hurstbridge.
The ‘stunt’ claim seems a little odd given the state governments own commitment to upgrade carparking at 16 locations across the network.
