Cars to drive on recycled cars…
Fulton Hogan has this week unveiled the first substantial road surfacing works utilising recycled plastic from scrapped cars. The asphalt alternative is created from plastic car parts that would otherwise end up in landfill offering an environmentally friendly alternative to traditional road surfacing. The project was delivered in Mozart St, St Kilda (Victoria) for client Port Phillip Council with Mayor Dick Gross noting that the council hoped to use the material in future works.
Victoria has been struggling with waste management in 2019 following the collapse of services provider SKM with many tonnes of otherwise recyclable materials being diverted to landfill.
