Another Structural Failure Sends Residents Fleeing
Residents of the Green Trees Estate in Ashfield (Inner-West Sydney) were sent out into the cold overnight as the building began cracking and residents reported “popping” noises. Even more startling, some residents noticed floor tiles lifting and shattering under the pressure of movement. Emergency services were quick on the scene and even had to force some doors open to rescue residents due to the shifting structure. Blame has been quickly pointed at the recently completed nearby M4 Westconnex tunnel with some residents claiming that during drilling they felt the building shake.
Time will tell what the actual cause of the issue is but Sydneysiders are getting a strange sense of deja vu as another relatively new medium density structure appears to have failed.
